Manchester, New Hampshire (USA) – RCD Components, a leading manufacturer of Resistors, Coils, and Delay lines has announced the release of a specialty line of true Carbon Composition replacement resistors. RCD’s PR (Pulse Resistant) series are capable of withstanding high-energy pulses similar to carbon composition resistors (superior to conventional film and wirewound resistors) without the associated performance disadvantages. The heavyduty construction features a ceramic composition core and coating, enabling improved thermal transfer, as well as excellent long-term stability and environmental performance.

RCD’s PR resistors are cost effective in a wide variety of pulse applications including telecom line feed resistors, snubber circuits, in-rush currents, capacitor charge/discharge circuits, lightning surges, any many other circuits requiring ‘hi voltage/high surge’ safeguarding. Typical pricing is under $.39 each in production quantities. Available in a wide resistance range from 0.1W to 200KW, and tolerances from 1% to 20% makes this part suitable for most applications. The PR series are available in five package sizes from 1/8-watt to 5-watts. This product is presently being produced at RCD’s New Hampshire facility, and is slated to begin production at RCD’s Caribbean facility by mid 2001.
